Dubai Diaries: A day at Downtown Dubai

Downtown Dubai is another of a long list of prime locations in Dubai full of residential and commercial skyscrapers. Some of the most iconic buildings include the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest skyscraper which includes the Giorgio Armani Hotel, Dubai Mall – the world’s largest mall by area and the Address Downtown Dubai among others. The iconic Dubai Opera was under construction when I visited the place in January 2016.

As night falls, the lights at the restaurants come to life..

Downtown Dubai..

Doesn’t this feel like the canals in Venice?

The calm waters of the Burj Khalifa lake..

This is the same spot from where thousands watched in shock at the fire which engulfed the Address Downtown skyscraper on 31st December 2015.

The Address is all covered up after the devastating fire..

Then there is also the Dubai Fountain which is regarded as the world’s largest choreographed fountain system set on the Burj Khalifa man made lake. With more than 6000 lights, 25 projectors, water shooting up to about 500 ft and accompanied by international music, this sure is a fantastic masterpiece.

To add to that, the day I went to the Downtown, the weather was cloudy with a temperature of just about 20 degrees and to top it off, there was also a cool breeze all around.

It was cloudy and breezy.. A perfect day for a long walk..

  2. One of my favorite parts of Dubai! Love seeing the sprawling cityscape from atop Burj Khalifa! 🙂

Totally! It does make you feel that you are on the top of the world and the rest of the city seems like a speck on the horizon :).
