Zenith of Disaster

Zenith of Disaster

May didn’t augur well for him. While he was sure that his family was careful, he knew that the precautions followed by those who came home had gone wayward off late. Within days, the covid fatalities rose and as he lay in bed, his thoughts were interrupted as an auger was used to put his wife’s frame on the wall. He laid a lei on her grave next morning wondering how the pandemic had broken their union.

They sat on their chairs wondering how it had all become s0 vacant.

“Previously, we used to have so many customers that we didn’t have enough staff to meet their needs. But all that feels so far away. Despite our scrupulous attention to detail when it comes to sanitation, the numbers haven’t increased.”

Existential Crisis

As another day came to an end with a beautiful sunset looking over the sea, they knew that the pandemic had turned their life upside down.

Existential Crisis

In times of lockdowns, their home far away seemed like quite a lonely place to be in.

Visualizing an apocalypse

Visualizing an apocalypse

The positivity rate has rapidly increased as the infection has torn through the country at breakneck speed. There is a huge influx of patients in already full hospitals each day. The rush for beds, for oxygen, for medicines, for food and more has only intensified as people grapple for survival. And then there are so many who don’t make it to a hospital. Some isolate and survive at home while others die before they get that life saving injection or supplemental oxygen. They leave behind grieving families. And in the end, they just end up as a statistic amongst the numerous funeral pyres burning across the city and the country.

It was just the start

of summer but the clouds of

doom came together

Note: It’s gut wrenching to see so many people in India (my home) suffer through this brutal coronavirus wave. Having already lost loved ones, I hope and pray that we all get the courage and strength to get through this.

Pizzazz was an innate part of her personality. And this is why she was always in the frame whenever it came to any promotion in her organization. She went about her work without any haste striving for perfection in anything she did and thus was fortunate to get whatever she deserved.

Sanitation

Sanitation

The rat ran and he chased.

But the rat’s speed was so much so that he couldn’t keep pace. He had for long asked the authorities to ensure the cleanliness in his locality. It was all the more important for him as he ran a bakery which had a lot many visitors. And without proper sanitation there wouldn’t be any customers.

But the apathy of the authorities made the presence of rats and other such organisms inevitable. This apathy had affected his zest for his business. But he knew that he couldn’t take anymore of their drivel and needed to do what was right for the good of his business.

“It has been a tough year for everyone. As we begin this new year, we all hope and pray that the next one will be better in every sense of the word.”

As the residents of the city bid goodbye to 2020 with a short speech by the mayor, there was optimism in the air. As people lit candles with messages of hope, there was relief more than elation at seeing the back of a year which almost everyone wanted to forget.

They felt that the beginning of a new year brought a ray of hope for mankind to start afresh.

Quixotic

With an unrelenting zest for success he knew

that he had it all to succeed in his new venture,

While things started slowly, it all started to grow

with speed as word-of-mouth started to pick up pace

But new government regulations hampered his plans

While his supporters were sympathetic at all the trouble he had to endure and gave him a shoulder to cry on, looking at the amount of drivel he had kept pedalling in the days prior, this all seemed inevitable. Though everyone was quite surprised at the speed in which the decision was made.
