100 word story: Belief

Belief

Belief

While initially, she was just a need, she had become his obsession over the years. It pained him to see her going around with anyone else. And he could go to any length to make sure that never happened.

Whether it was stalking her almost everywhere or beating up the guys who tried to flirt around with her, he had made her life living hell. But one fine day she was gone. He searched everywhere but to no avail. Finally, when he did hear about her marriage, his world came crashing down. That was his ‘I can’t believe it’ moment.

From the time we are young, we are taught this phrase – “What goes around comes around”. Or another one – “As you sow, so shall you reap.” Our life is filled with various good, bad and ugly instances some of them are our doing while many others are due to someone else’s interference. Eventually, we all have to face the consequences of our actions. These consequences may depend on the actions we have taken.

Last week, I attended the premiere screening of ‘Momentum’ – a South African – American action thriller. This one stars Olga Kurylenko, James Purefoy and Morgan Freeman in lead roles.

The movie starts off with a high – tech diamond robbery where Olga’s (who is disguised as a thief) character is revealed by mistake. The rest of flick deals with how and why an assassin (James Purefoy) and his cronies begin to pursue her for the diamonds. There is also a US senator (Morgan Freeman) in the picture.

The rainy night..

PHOTO PROMPT -© Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

“If I don’t leave tonight, I wouldn’t be able to make it to the conference tomorrow.”

Though it was raining heavily, he decided to drive down much against his family’s wishes to wait till the next morning. The highway surrounded by mountains was prone to getting dangerous from landslides and other accidents during poor weather. But he was always up for challenges.

When he didn’t call the next morning, his parents filed a missing complaint at the police station. His body was found a few days later far away from his car which seemed to have fallen down a cliff.

In a lot many nations around the world, beauty is defined simply by physical appearance. If you are tall, fair complexioned and slim, you are considered really good looking. But if you are dark, short, fat and so on and so forth, you are considered quite awful in terms of looks.

Life of an adrenalin junkie..

I recently watched the movie ‘Everest’ and first things first, I must say that it’s a visually breathtaking flick. But it got me thinking on the reasons why mountaineers do what they do.

Whether it’s the fun or the dream of conquering the impossible; the craze for living life at the edge or the fame associated with it, mountaineers have their reasons. And it’s the case with not only mountaineers but adrenalin junkies in general.

For many, this so called ‘adventurous’ life is nothing but a waste of money and public health resources. But for those who live on challenges, such experiences give meaning to their lives. It defines their personality and their day to day outlook.
