Whether professional or personal, all of us look to our friends and family for advice and support in some form or the other at different stages in our lives.

Why do we do so? Is it because of the comfort and care? Is it because we really believe that they would advise us in an unbiased manner? Is it because we feel that they would give us the correct advice based on their experience?

As someone has said, there is nothing greater than the power of the written word. For me, writing is that activity which makes my world go round. It connects me to life and happiness in every possible way. Writers have the power to dream and create a new world with new characters. This combined with the ability of writers to weave varied emotions is what helps me connect myself with writing.

Guest Post: Short Story – A Million Faces

A million faces

A million faces

Reuben stares at his own reflection in the mirror as he picks up the cologne from the counter and sprays it twice on his neck. He takes a small sniff, and picks up a tight cap from the counter. He pulls it over his head to hide his greying hair and adjusts it carefully, stuffing every strand of hair that emerged from the cap. He then turns to study his dimly lit bedroom.

Walking over to the closet, Reuben stops in front of a large board. On the board, he studies the many pictures of different couples that had been hung with thumbnails. Each picture has a different man and woman posing in front of a yellow statute of a dragon in a Chinese restaurant. He faces his closet, and pulls out a jacket and adjusts a brown colored wig over his head. Next, he takes out a pair of dark rimmed glasses from his jacket pocket and places them on. Looking down on the floor, he bends down to pick up a camera, wears it around his neck, and calmly exits the bedroom.

PHOTO PROMPT © The Reclining Gentleman

“We are late all because of your work. You knew we were leaving for a road trip, right? Wasn’t it possible to finish early at least today?”

Sarah and Rocky were a young couple who had summited 15 of the highest peaks in the world and survived through varied environments just on their willpower to achieve the impossible.

But they had never thought that a simple thing like giving a lift to a person could prove to be disastrous. They were thrown out of their car as their tormentor sped off. Minutes later, they were crawling on the road for help.

Is life only about getting rich & famous?

Is life only about getting rich?

Is life only about getting rich?

Source: http://creatingfreedomonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Get-Rich.jpg

Humans have an unlimited number of wants, don’t they? Being rich and famous is one of the most common among them. But there is more to life than just earning lots of money.

A happy and loving family, good friends, a stable work – life balance, being passionate about one’s hobbies & interests and more – there’s so much that one can’t even imagine. Those whose only aim is to maximize their earnings without even thinking of ways to splurge them are never ever happy. They always dream of earning more and that more has no limit.

And therefore, it’s important to come out of your closed doors and see the world out there. Breathe out in the open air and start thinking of life in a way where money is just another part and not the ONLY part.
