Singapore: A haven for foodies!

With immigrants from a varied variety of countries including India, Indonesia, China and Malaysia to name a few, Singapore is one of the most cosmopolitan countries in the world. Be it tourism or infrastructure, Singapore always stays ahead of its competition in every which way you could think of. Amusement Parks, Greenery, Shopping, Food, Electronics and more – there’s so much to do for everyone.

But why food? Is it even important? The  food in a country defines its culture and daily life. It defines the habits and persona of the people. As immigrants from different countries stream in one after another, they bring a taste of their country along with them. Haven’t you heard of the Kaya Toast or the Roti Prata or even the Icecream Sandwich? What are you waiting for? Read on!

I was in Singapore on a work assignment for more than 6 months and I must say that I was totally lost for choice seeing the food options on offer. Despite the variety of cuisines to taste, I have narrowed my list of favourites to the below 5 ones.

Haagen Dazs Icecream: Have it at least once before you die!

There are icecreams like Baskin Robbins, Kwality Walls, Mcdonalds McSwirls, Unilever, Cold Stone Creamery (ones I have eaten till date) and then there is Haagen Dazs. While the other icecreams mentioned are all about having something cold or tasting a good dessert, Haagen Dazs with its exquisite products and fantastic ambience creates a killer mix of delight, a never before urge to have something sweet and pure pleasure. I haven’t had any icecreams which creates such feelings ever!

Foodie Review – Mainland China


Mainland China is probably the most famous among the very small group of authentic Chinese restaurants in the country. With more than 30 outlets in over 15 cities of the country it has carved a name for itself in providing the best Chinese food. By authentic Chinese I mean serving the same kind of vegetables, spices, sauces etc. which are done in China. This is totally different from Indian Chinese which as the name sounds has been Indianised like any other dish be it burger served by Mcdonalds, Burger King and KFC or Pizza served by Pizza Hut.
