Grocery shopping during a pandemic

Grocery shopping during a pandemic

The strangest thing happened as I went into the supermarket. I saw a customer who was very curt with the staff about not wearing a mask despite the strict rules. While he did nod indicating that he understood what the staff was telling him, he still went on in and began to carve his way through the store one step at a time. He also made a faint attempt at a laugh apparently mocking the staff.

Meanwhile, what started out as thunder had given way to a downpour so much so that the city seemed underwater and whirlpools were forming up as well. Almost on cue, things started getting heated up inside as well. Despite the fact that the customer was well built with a broad chest to boot, the staff didn’t waste any time in telling him to leave the store until he followed the health guidelines.

The customer protested saying it was his sovereign right to do what he felt. But the supermarket wasn’t about to sway from the defined rules which would affect their credibility. The staff didn’t have any inanition in following the defined rules. They had kept cherry blossoms around their store as a symbol of hope and they weren’t about to let a random customer spoil it all.

Road to recovery

Road to recovery

Long after the coronavirus had been vanquished and the triumphant cries died down, people were still recovering. It would take many years to ameliorate everything.

After the lockdown, everything seemed elysian. As people saw the vast expanse of the calm ocean and fishes swimming without a care, they felt a ray of hope of normalcy. While many did a lot during the lockdown, it was time to start afresh by breaking a coconut. As someone put it – “When it is over said and done, it was a time and there was never enough of it.”

He was driven by wanderlust but he now knew that he had to shed such thoughts and beware dangers which lay ahead lest he ruffle feathers. Lying in bed with toes up, he remembered when he was his concupiscent self and tried to paw her. He missed her touch.

Form is temporary but class is permanent

Form is temporary but class is permanent

His unique skills had made him a very critical player for many years. But in the last year or so, he had hit a rough patch. After his injury, he didn’t seem the same player he once was. Though he had always been a bright prospect, the selectors were now losing patience. His technique was found wanting and he looked completely out of touch. Even in the field, he wasn’t able to catch the ball as it regularly bobbled out of his hands.

While the think tank wanted to give him two more chances, it seemed that his career had hit a wall and it was axiomatic that he needed to get his mind in a good space. Even he had started to feel that something in his mind was getting him pinioned so that he wouldn’t succeed.

His free-spirited personality which was the characteristic of Aquarius brought about his downfall and he just ended up hanging on to breadcrumbs of his past fame for comfort. The form was lost but it was upto him to ensure that it could be found again.

If only

If only

He had forever been on the fringes of selection but could never quite capture the imagination of the selectors to make it to the team. With each passing day, his patience was wearing thin as he wasn’t able to bring in the energy to soldier on till he finally got selected.

His friends wrapped their arms around him and told to keep the faith and never be verecund. But he felt lost and could feel himself being crushed under the weight of expectations from his family and friends. If something wasn’t done soon enough, he knew that his skills would become evanescent.

As he lay underneath the stars and the hours ticked by one by one, he could hear a voice say something softly in his head. This was more than enough to obfuscate his thinking. But he couldn’t think beyond what that voice had said.

And so as it began to rain the next morning, by the end of it he had committed a felony. While he did think that he could escape, the law caught up with him quite quickly. For someone who came with dreams in his eyes to the city, this was a dramatic fall from grace. If only, he could have waited for a some more time.

Story of her life

Story of her life

She was tired of the creeps she had met throughout her life whether during work or education. While there were times when she was morose, she didn’t want incidents like these to leave a stain on her life and made sure that those perverts weren’t a pain in her neck.

There were times when she did feel that her life was like a yo-yo going from side to side. But then, she always made it a point to claw her way back from the depths to soar her way through to success years down the line.

Over the years, while she did feel the singularity of her existence especially considering the men she had met all her life, she never saw it as a reason for dips in her professional life.
