Lockdown

Lockdown

As the lockdown began, they ideated and designed a project to aid the needy. While being unsure of its efficacy, they knew that just a cheque for the poor wouldn’t work. Instead, a more nuanced approach was needed.

Hinterland

Hinterland

He loved the life in the hinterlands far away from all the pollution and the maddening crowds. It was delightful to have mouth-watering fresh produce directly from the farm. But he was worried at the thought of his farm getting obliterated to make way for real estate development.

This farm was the link to his childhood as his father tended to the numerous farms he owned with utmost care. While his house didn’t provide the greatest ambience, he was a good talker who could make anyone comfortable.

Cavalier

Cavalier

She was tired seeing his cavalier attitude to life. All through the summer, she tried her best to make him understand the need to balance everything. But instead he could only assume that she didn’t care to see him happy until one day when she decided that she couldn’t take it anymore. But by then he knew that it was too late to apologize.

Cerulean Bay

Cerulean Bay

The couple had settled on Cerulean Bay as their honeymoon destination of choice. With it’s lovely beaches, this was the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. The authorities made sure that the beaches were reserved only for the hotel guests and the others were unwelcome.

As soon as they reached, the rules of what was and wasn’t allowed were succinctly explained. The resort had made sure to abolish the practice of taxi drivers fleecing the guests.

One day, while sitting at the beach she quipped, “Would like coffee, tea or me?”

Obdurate

Obdurate

She loved exploring the wilderness wherever she went. It was quite an experience taking in the peace and quiet. Though cognizant of the dangers she would expose herself to, she had always been obdurate in whatever she wanted in life. Little did she know that as part of this experience she would come across some dangerous secrets which would nail the killer who had been on the loose for quite some time.

Hope is what we have

Hope is what we have

Someday, this will be over– only remembered like some half-felt and fading nightmare.

The sun is still rising from the east and setting from the west,

Birds are flying up and about without a care in the world,

Animals are roaming freely in their habitats,

The weather is having its usual cycles from one season to another,

The seas are going through their usual mood swings,

There is so much which hasn’t changed yet there is so much which is different,

Jobs have disappeared leaving many penniless,

There is a real struggle for food and water,

Businesses have been shut leaving people at home,

Cracks have appeared in family relationships leaving many broken families,

But hope is all what we have and can cling onto amidst this chaos.

100 word fiction: Lovestruck

I want to forget those days but I can’t seem to get over her. It seems that she is still here with me walking hand in hand by the beach.

We happened to meet by chance in a restaurant where she had come for a business meeting. When we got talking, we realized that we had so much in common and a friendship quickly bloomed. Soon enough, we were besotted with each other so much so that I had surrendered myself to her charms.

But when she suddenly passed away, I was only left with our photographs and my loneliness.
