“I am tired of the vitriol he spews whenever he talks. He seems to have taken quite a bit of advantage of the freedom he was bestowed with.”

“That’s so true. Some of his behavior with his fellow students and even seniors has been atrocious to say the least. And just the other day, he and his friends ended up creating such a ruckus in the canteen library.”

“We look at him through the wrong end of the long telescope of time”

Renner had been selected as the president of the school committee due to his all round performances in academics and sports. It was a unanimous decision. But little did they realize that he never knew the way to conduct himself when given a lot of responsibility. The school committee became his personal fiefdom so to speak as he did what he desired.

100 word fiction: Legacy

He had built on the legacy of his father when he setup the school in his memory. While the school seemed like any other from the outside, it surely was different from the others.

The students were from the disadvantaged communities around the area who couldn’t afford the other expensive schools. They were provided with nutritious meals and a proper environment to study free from any discrimination whatsoever. As was his father’s wish, he ensured that the school was free from vices of any kind.

All this had ensured that his respect amongst the students and teachers was very pronounced.

Dear Zindagi (Life),

You have quite literally been a bed of roses till date. Everyone has his or her share of horror stories and troubles which shape their childhood and thinking. But in my case, it has almost been as perfect as it gets. While I know that it may not always be the case, I truly appreciate what all you have given me.

Once the right values and beliefs were inculcated in me, I was always encouraged to chart my own course in my career. There was never any force or coercion to do things to please others or live life on other’s terms. And the best part was the fact that my loved ones supported me all the way in any decision that I took. They have always believed that one can discuss anything with multiple people but the final decision should rest with the individual. And they taught me the same.

“You have gone too far with materialistic pursuits. It seems as though friends and family have become non-existent as far as you are concerned. Do you ever sit back and think on what you are missing in life?”

Roy had been a brilliant student both at school and university. Within a few years, he had risen to the upper echelons of the organization due to his commitment and dedication.

But he had just been through a painful divorce. He hadn’t been in regular touch with friends or family for years. His personal life was a disaster of the highest order.

There are so many moments in our lives which are worth cherishing for years on end. Along with keeping us happy and contented, they act as a motivation to strive hard to excel and achieve a lot more.

Securing the highest marks in our class for a particular subject

Winning a prize in sports

Achieving fame and money amidst a plethora of individuals

Becoming a parent

Meeting and spending time with our friends and family

Some of you may wonder the reason I have included the last one as a memorable moment. What’s so special about spending time with friends and family? Aren’t they the people who we meet almost every day?

Truth vs Lies?

Truth vs Lies

We love to lie for anything and everything in our lives, don’t we? From simple lies which may not harm people to those which could actually be detrimental to individuals, lying has become part and parcel of our lives. But why do we lie? Why is it so difficult to be true to people around?

One of the primary reasons is fear. Fear from our parents, extended family, friends, peers and more. We fear on the way they would react hearing the truth. We fear having to bear the consequences of being true to the situation. Moreover, a lot of us lack the courage and the will-power to be able to handle the effects of telling the truth to people.

Flash Fiction: When I didn’t think twice before sending it!

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Source: http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/finger-pressing-send-button-6364250.jpg

And before I knew, I had hit ‘Send’. Everyone told me to shut myself up. There was almost no support for what I had gone through. Some said that your career would be finished. While others said that your family will be in danger. But I had it enough. There was only so much I could bear. And this time, I had decided to take a stand! I didn’t care what would the result be nor did I care for my life. All I wanted was some relief.

It all started a few months back when I went to apply for my annual leave. With the pressure of teaching more than 10 classes at school, I hadn’t taken leave for a year. And so as was the procedure, I had to specially meet the principal to convince him to approve my leave application. I knew that I had given all my hard work, sweat and dedication to this job and hadn’t left any stone unturned to ensure that the people who matter are happy with my contributions. But even in my wildest dreams, I wasn’t prepared for what I had to go through when I met him.

Best Friends to Office Colleagues – Quite an arduous journey!

As someone has rightly said the world is not filled with black or white people. Instead everyone has some grey shades to his / her personality. But in my life interestingly till a couple of years back I had mostly met people who must be 70-80% white or probably I presumed so to say. But over the last few years things seem to have changed.

Taking one for granted, use and throw friendships, being friends for getting some work done, having excuses just to not meet – all this and more are becoming pretty common in today’s world. But then people would say that this existed all the time. There are all kinds of people on this planet some good some not so good and some horribly bad. You can’t make everyone really good, can you?
