Drive to succeed

Drive to succeed

His drive to succeed kept him going as an immigrant. Having a mortgage, he worked doubly hard to repay. Despite rejections, he kept trying to forget and move on.

His family sacrificed a lot and he knew that one mistake could end it all in a snap. The pile of challenges kept growing but he wasn’t deterred. He never stooped to unethical methods.

Sitting in the park, he remembered the day he became a citizen. It felt the galaxy had come together to help realize his dream. His felicity had no limits.

Safe to open up?

Safe to open up?

People see what makes sense to them, reality notwithstanding.

The calls to open up had reached a crescendo in countries where vaccines were aplenty. People yarned away without appreciating how lucky they were compared to the rest.

Spring’s arrival

Spring's arrival

Spring arrived with mud and a torrent of bad news.

They planned the expedition but unfortunately the weather ended up being a bummer. Considering his dexterity when it came to all things travel, he had organized everything in advance.

He also made sure to convince his best buddies who lived at the front and back of his house along with the solitudinarian. After the great winter freeze, the snow did melt away before spring arrived. But their trip just froze away instead becoming a fodder for so many around them.

Zenith of Disaster

Zenith of Disaster

May didn’t augur well for him. While he was sure that his family was careful, he knew that the precautions followed by those who came home had gone wayward off late. Within days, the covid fatalities rose and as he lay in bed, his thoughts were interrupted as an auger was used to put his wife’s frame on the wall. He laid a lei on her grave next morning wondering how the pandemic had broken their union.

Antithesis

Antithesis

Who was he?

He seemed like his brother’s antithesis. While his brother would strive for the family’s happiness, he didn’t care about anyone but himself. His behavior seemed absurd. Since he would err in anything he did, his brother announced in his bass voice that he wouldn’t base any succession plans to consider him as his heir just based on relationships.
