The day she was waiting for..

The day she was waiting for..

She was waiting for

this day but now that it was

here, she got nervous

This wedding was what

she had always wanted and

her parents agreed

Though it went well,

she became teary eyed leaving home

and had to avoid smudging her makeup

Jaded

It only takes a little bit of lace to ruin a marriage.

Her confidence in marriage took a beating as the other lady took precedence while she was jettisoned. While the initial phase together was memorable, the last few years were the difference as they were spent in foraging for happiness. Their relationship did break years ago and nothing could mend it. She never wanted him to feel imprisoned though now was the time to set free and give him his freedom.

He stood there looking at their photos in remembrance of the times they spent together. While she was a scalawag of some sort, their friendship hit it off.

Though they did have their fights and arguments where she ended up with a moue of disdain, they laughed it off together at the end of the day.

100 word fiction: Stickler

He had always been a stickler for accuracy in anything he did whether it was his personal or professional life. While his managers were happy with his attention to detail, he always risked irritating his colleagues. They blamed him for their managers making them go the extra mile as well.

When he finally got married, he always made sure that everything was done to perfection. He never liked mediocrity and he expected his wife to follow the same.

While his colleagues were forced to tolerate him, his wife couldn’t take it beyond a point and decided that enough was enough.

Deserted at the altar

“I guess this is it. We were meant to be together only till this point.”

“Are you out of your mind? All the preparations are done. Everything is finalized. The marriage takes place in 2 hours. And now you say that its over?”

“Yes, you heard it right. There’s someone else in my life.” And saying this, she walked away with tears in her eyes even before he could ask the questions swirling in his head.

Despite their numerous attempts, her parents hadn’t agreed to their relationship. And she feared that if they got together, their lives would be at stake.

“We need to put an urgent stop to this. It’s not right for us to go on as our kids aren’t happy.”

While one was going through a painful divorce, the other had lost his partner to a painful death due to cancer. Both longed for unconditional love and care. What started off as a chance meeting in the court moved on to regular walks in the garden hand in hand all day. They discussed their happiness, their sadness, their dreams and more.

But as soon as their kids found out their story, their dream world was shattered to pieces.

Whether professional or personal, all of us look to our friends and family for advice and support in some form or the other at different stages in our lives.

Why do we do so? Is it because of the comfort and care? Is it because we really believe that they would advise us in an unbiased manner? Is it because we feel that they would give us the correct advice based on their experience?

“I love these calm and tranquil surroundings.”

Though, Anna and Ron had married a few months ago in a lavish ceremony, they hadn’t been able to spend much time together due to their busy schedules at work. And so when they did get a break, they were quick to plan a trip to the nearby archipelago.

Talking sweet nothings, walking hand in hand near the shore, having candle light dinners and more – they rekindled their love story.

“Are you in for some boating?” Hearing her reply in the affirmative, he took her hand in his and helped her get seated.

In today’s day and age, everyone talks about equality between men and women in every sphere of life. Whether its professionally in the corporate boardrooms or sharing chores at home, women expect to be treated at par with their male counterparts. But there’s a thin line between treating women equally or specially. Which one do they prefer?

A letter to God..

Dear God,

Most of us tend to remember you only when we are in trouble. Whether it is praying the night before a major event in our lives like an exam, an interview, a marriage or ridiculing you if something doesn’t go as planned, we tend to voice our angst all the time. Very rarely do we stop t0 think that things may not actually be going right because of our mistakes in one way or the other. Moreover, when things do go right, so many of us actually take the credit rather than give it to you. By now, have you become thick skinned to such situations?
