Transition of Thoughts

Weaving thoughts into words

Tag: Leaves

Hues of autumn

Token

Original Poem

Fall had begun to

set in as the leaves turned red

yellow or orange

The berry picking

season was at its end with

just a token left

My revision

With the beginning

of autumn, nature displayed

its various hues

Berry season was

almost over except for the

few remaining behind

“It’s such a pleasure living in a house where everyone takes care of the plants as if their life depends on it. Though we are nothing more than a showpiece sitting in this bowl, we are given water and nutrients on a daily basis.”

“I completely agree. This is surely so much better than where I lived previously. My caretaker rarely watered me so much so that I had lost all my energy and was quite literally on the verge of death.”

The two leaves were lost in thoughts of their own as the time for some food was nigh.

“The smell of the earth courtesy the season’s first rain is something I have always cherished. The nature around seems so fresh and pure.

Taking advantage of their extended weekend, Ramesh and Ila had taken off for a short vacation to the nearby hill-station. They were greeted with light rain and greenery all around as far as the eyes could see.

Sitting in the veranda with piping hot coffee in one hand and delicious snacks in the other, they were lost in each other as one interesting conversation gave way to another and finally it was the time to leave.

“Ma. Look around this place. Everything seems to have turned white with the amount of snowfall we had last night.”

While this winter had been unusually warm, the snowfall had dumped more than a few feet of snow throughout the sleepy town of Budsworth.

As the sun rose the next morning, Rosaline and her mother stepped out for a walk to the nearby reserve. The trees which were usually lush green seemed totally lifeless without their leaves. Moreover, with the overgrowth of wild bushes and mushrooms, it seemed as though the area hadn’t been tended to since a long time.
