“Haven’t you felt eerie around that house?”

“Everytime I pass by the place, I feel a certain sense of dread. While the lights are always on and the gardens manicured quite well, I have never seen anyone around.

“Whoa!” He seemed horror struck.

The two friends had just shifted to the locality and found the things happening in the house quite mysterious.

“The other day I had to pause near the house for some work and I actually felt someone brush past me. But when I looked around, there was no one. It was quite a test of my character.”

The purple door

The room had been locked for years. Rachel had heard stories about her aunt’s ghost lurking behind those doors. This aunt had failed in love and out of despair, she committed suicide.

Rachel didn’t believe all this until one evening when she heard footsteps from the room. They got louder and louder and finally someone began banging the door from inside amidst cries for help. Even before she could react, the door was thrown open.

Almost immediately, Rachel got up sweating profusely. It was 3am and she looked out only to see the room locked as before. Was she dreaming?

He always made it a point to switch on the lights before stepping out of his room to go to the washroom in the middle of the night. He had a queer feeling that a pair of eyes was watching over him.

“Why did I have to agree to work in the lab the entire night?” He said to no one in particular.

Though George didn’t believe in ghosts, he felt a bit uneasy thinking that he was the only soul in the entire building that night. As he stepped out of the lab to drink water from the nearby cooler, he heard what sounded like water falling from somewhere. Was it a leaking faucet or something more?

Whatever the case, he kept himself busy and didn’t dare come out of the lab for the rest of the night.

“It looks as though that house has been abandoned since quite a long while.”

Their group had been trekking through the jungle when they came across a dilapidated house in the middle of nowhere. Tired from the day’s heat, they decided to rest for a while.

As it started to get dark, they began to hear strange noises which became louder with time. When they realized that sheltering themselves in the house wouldn’t be safe anymore, they began to run for their lives away from an unseen enemy.

Since he was in a support project, his work timings differed every two weeks. So for two weeks a month it was a 9am – 6pm shift while for the other two weeks it was a 9pm – 6am shift. He was a very hardworking, honest and dedicated resource. Whether it was being asked to work on weekends or on public holidays or even spend late hours, he never refused. That night there wasn’t much work at office. All his teammates had left by 1am. But he thought to spend some more time in learning a few more concepts which sounded confusing to him. By 3am he packed his stuff and set out to leave.
