Coping with a crisis

Coping with a crisis

If possible,

we would emerge out of this pandemic by switching it off,

If possible,

we would fume less and smile more as the pandemic taught us that life is short,

Maybe this is just an aberration

for learning to cope with a crisis.

Happiness

Happiness

Staying happy is a choice to keep

the mind lucid and fresh.

Happiness is that feeling which one gets

seeing loved ones virtually as a rule during the pandemic.

One feels the happiest when its possible

to hug loved ones after months of lockdown.

100 word fiction: Edge of Universe

Edge of Universe

There’s a planet at the edge of the universe not unlike the earth in landscape and atmosphere. But its inhabitants are not.

They are robots who have been programmed to act and respond as per certain scenarios. While they are also programmed to emote like humans, their emotions seem anything but natural. Over the years, the amount of goods consumed on this planet has increased ten times.

There is speculation that the merchandise there is carried across the vast swath of their planet by planes just like on Earth. People remember to label it correctly so that its not lost.

Friends unfriended

Friends unfriended

A team of two dancers, a team of two friends,

they always hung out together

But punishment was an echo of her feelings,

when her friend’s actions were too much to not bother

Forgiveness meant being cordial and working in tandem

in the interim both of which weren’t acceptable to her,

And so with time, the wedge between them got wider

and wider and finally their relationship was wiped clean

Blanket of Sunshine

Blanket of Sunshine

Having the penchant to excel despite rivalries all around

got rewarded with a trip of a lifetime,

Unable to handle the winter, he sensed that

this was the change he had dreamt about,

Drowning himself amidst a blanket of sunshine

he felt pure bliss.

Starting a garden..

Starting a garden..

Catrin Welz-Stein

Time was nigh as far

as her plan of starting a

garden was concerned

She didn’t deviate from

her plan one bit despite the

proffer of a team

She made sure to clam

up the others saying that

it was in her mind

Once the idea

germinated in her brain,

they met as agreed

Hikes

Hikes

These are desperate times for economies around the world. Hikes of all kinds whether its in utility rates, ticket rates, hotel rates, prices in retail and more maybe required to prevent a number of organizations and countries going bust. But on the other hand, hikes will discourage people even further as there are millions who have lost jobs.

The most important thing for almost anyone is to ensure that they are able to put food on the table. All the other luxuries may have taken a backseat for the foreseeable future. Life has become all the more intense and it is a far cry from the fantabulous days before the pandemic when money hunters didn’t need to do much at all as everything seemed hunky dory. The struggle for survival is on as the pandemic has given people a mirror on their actions from the past.

From spring to summer,

the pandemic left millions

Grocery shopping during a pandemic

Grocery shopping during a pandemic

The strangest thing happened as I went into the supermarket. I saw a customer who was very curt with the staff about not wearing a mask despite the strict rules. While he did nod indicating that he understood what the staff was telling him, he still went on in and began to carve his way through the store one step at a time. He also made a faint attempt at a laugh apparently mocking the staff.

Meanwhile, what started out as thunder had given way to a downpour so much so that the city seemed underwater and whirlpools were forming up as well. Almost on cue, things started getting heated up inside as well. Despite the fact that the customer was well built with a broad chest to boot, the staff didn’t waste any time in telling him to leave the store until he followed the health guidelines.

The customer protested saying it was his sovereign right to do what he felt. But the supermarket wasn’t about to sway from the defined rules which would affect their credibility. The staff didn’t have any inanition in following the defined rules. They had kept cherry blossoms around their store as a symbol of hope and they weren’t about to let a random customer spoil it all.

Form is temporary but class is permanent

Form is temporary but class is permanent

His unique skills had made him a very critical player for many years. But in the last year or so, he had hit a rough patch. After his injury, he didn’t seem the same player he once was. Though he had always been a bright prospect, the selectors were now losing patience. His technique was found wanting and he looked completely out of touch. Even in the field, he wasn’t able to catch the ball as it regularly bobbled out of his hands.

While the think tank wanted to give him two more chances, it seemed that his career had hit a wall and it was axiomatic that he needed to get his mind in a good space. Even he had started to feel that something in his mind was getting him pinioned so that he wouldn’t succeed.

His free-spirited personality which was the characteristic of Aquarius brought about his downfall and he just ended up hanging on to breadcrumbs of his past fame for comfort. The form was lost but it was upto him to ensure that it could be found again.
