I was tagged by Jaspal.

I think of my blog as a growing plant. For growing to the next level, a plant needs water, minerals and nutrients. In the same way, a blog needs dedication, commitment and time to get more views, comments and likes.

All of us have various goals and dreams. Irrespective of our passions, most of us aim to become rich and famous. But, isn’t there more to life than just earning good money? “You have gone too far with materialistic pursuits. It seems as though friends and family have become non-existent as far as you are concerned. Do you ever sit back and think on what you are missing in life?”

Roy had been a brilliant student both at school and university. Within a few years, he had risen to the upper echelons of the organization due to his commitment and dedication.

But he had just been through a painful divorce. He hadn’t been in regular touch with friends or family for years. His personal life was a disaster of the highest order.

While the rich slept on hard mattresses, all she had was just a few sheets to protect her from the hard ground below next to the main street.

What she did have in abundance though was the determination to succeed and rise up the career ladder through hard work and extreme dedication.

Short of resources, she always had to borrow cash to fulfill her basic needs. With every trouble she faced, she was motivated to study doubly hard to get a good score in her MBA entrance exams.

And today, she finally sleeps on those hard mattresses in luxurious rooms she could only dream off a couple of years back.

100 word fiction – The garage that was..

Garage

Copyright – Claire Fuller

“I spent my life in this garage repairing cars from the Toyota’s to the Rolls Royce’s. People of all kinds flocked here because of my quality of service and on-time delivery.”

Mathew looked on and reminisced the days gone by. But as soon as his thoughts came back to the present, his happiness gave away to anger. He had kept this business going on the basis of hard-work and honesty.

But his son who was far away from such ideals had spent all the hard earned money and even sold off the garage to fund his drugs, drinks and girls.

Success is like a drug. When people succeed, they love to take all the credit. Even if there was a team involved, many people love to be the center of attraction trying to ensure they get all the praise. But when things fail, why does everyone try to escape? Why is it that no one wants to be accountable for failure? Why is that people tend to buckle under failure?

Someone has rightly said that there is always a calm before a storm. A storm can be as dangerous as it gets. When things get very happy and successful for anyone in any part of life, people tend to warn that failure or disaster is always around the corner. You don’t always get all the happiness. It’s a mixture of the good and the bad which you need to be able to tackle.
