100 word fiction: Xenization

Though he was literally on the top of Africa, he felt a certain sense of loneliness seeing the vast tracts of emptiness all around.

He loved exploring the world and had visited more than 120 countries. While he did encounter many strangers on such trips who eventually became friends, he had started to feel the need for a travel companion.

And now as he sat on Mount Kilimanjaro, he couldn’t help but wonder how different life would have been if he had instead taken up the software job he rejected in favour of this one. Had he made the right decision?

Why I love the world?

World Love

From the time we Indians are born, we are always taught the tenet of “Unity in Diversity“. This is based on the fact that though we have a number of different religions, regions, castes, languages, food items and more in the country, we still live in a united India. Yes, everything is not as perfect as it was intended with discrimination at various levels but then we still celebrate each others festivals, have different types of food and even speak more than one language.

Growing up in an environment like this has always taught me to appreciate diversity in every form. Having traveled to more than 25 countries across Europe, Asia and Africa, I have met people from across the board. It has given me interesting perspectives of their culture, their thoughts and even their beliefs. Eg: Saving and investing a certain amount of money is not just an Indian or specifically an Asian thing.

Meeting people who are different than we are also plays a strong role in helping remove stereotypes and myths created over many years. Eg: Not everyone from Africa deals in drugs and human trafficking.

2016 is a big year for Botswana because it celebrates 50 years of independence. There are lots of incredible destinations adventure seekers must check out while in Botswana. Located in the heart of southern Africa, the country prides itself with some of the most striking and fascinating landscapes and points of interest in Africa.

Its flatness and high aridity make it ideal for a safari. Most people live in the east side of the country where there’s plenty of rain in the summer and the weather is not that harsh on the locals. Kalahari Desert covers three quarters of Botswana; but there’s more to this destination than just sand and high temperatures. The Okavango Delta, the abundant wildlife, welcoming people and thrilling sights make Botswana an incredibly entertaining and convenient place to visit for a fantastic safari experience.

Short Story 7 – The dark secret of the grasslands!

“Is this the same country which people routinely trash when discussing about tourism?” Sam seemed awestruck by the beauty all around.

“Yeah that’s the question running through my head as well.” Ginny had heard the same from her friends back in Auckland.

“From the greenery to the valley, from the wildlife safaris to the unspoilt beaches, this place is paradise rediscovered.”

“Yes it truly feels like. God! They scared us to death while departing. Thankfully we kept our foot down.” Over the last few days, they had realized that this place was nothing like what had been described by their friends.

“Who knows; maybe they assumed that we were going to a concentration camp rather than an adventure trip.” Both of them had a hearty laugh.

Sam and Ginny were not your regular couple who meet in a college and fall in love. They actually never worked in an office at all. Whether it was rock climbing, rappelling, bungee jumping, paragliding or any other adventure sport – both of them were always game for challenges. And it was during one of these adventures that they happened to meet.
