Photography: Creativity brings happiness

The last few months have been nothing short of a nightmare for millions across the planet first with the coronavirus and then with the ensuing effects on the economy, poverty and more.

Many of us have been extremely lucky and privileged to be able to pursue our interests and also do things which we kept delaying for a long time. And this has given me nothing but utmost happiness.

I have been blogging since 2009. But for the last few years, my blogging frequency had dipped quite dramatically due to a variety of factors including me just being plain lazy. But just as the pandemic struck, I began the April A to Z Blogging challenge which involved me blogging everyday in April except the Sundays. And since then I have just continued on and on.

Some statistics – 279 out of my 1093 blog posts have been published since April 2020. My Alexa blog rank has jumped from 870,000 to about 80,000 odd. My subscribers have increased. The bounce rates are low and the time spent on my website at about 13 odd minutes is at an all time high.

In this period, I also published my first solo e-book of short stories on Blogchatter – An online blogging platform which connects a variety of bloggers and writers. The dream to publish a book had always been there but I guess I just wasn’t taking the steps to make it a reality. My next goal is to get it up on the Amazon Kindle Store as soon as possible.

I guess the pandemic has taught me that anything is possible if one has the will power and determination to stay at it.

Photography: Under the sun

Having literally lived all my life in places that are sunny almost 365 days a year, I am quite used to clicking pictures under the sun.

While it does get difficult considering the rays of the sun and the contrast, for me pictures under the sun are always the best as I have always felt that sunlight always gives a lot of life and radiance to any picture.

From Kuwait to Amsterdam; from New York to Marbella, I have always followed the sun in the quest for the best pictures.

Photography: Relaxation

We all have our favourite places where we feel that sense of relaxation and peace which we long for especially to escape our busy day-to-day lives.

Photography: Relaxation

Don’t we always long to escape from all the pollution and excessive traffic?

Photography: Relaxation

Don’t we dream of breathing fresh air and getting a chance to introspect especially in a quiet surrounding?

Don’t we dream of the days when we don’t have to actually breathe carbon monoxide and all the other noxious gases out there?

Photography: Winter time

For some, winter is all about the dark and dreary months when there isn’t a lot of activity.

Photography: Winter time

But for others, winter is all about the joy and the celebrations of Christmas.

Photography: Winter time

While winter months in a lot many places around the world can be dull and boring with the constant dark clouds and snow, it is also a good time for some winter sports, to watch the Aurora lights and make merry during Christmas.

I had always seen fall colours in movies and pictures. But it was only when I went to USA last year that I got a chance to see the colours up close and personal.

It was then that I realized what autumn was really all about.

Having lived in the desert climate for the majority of my life, I feel a sense of tranquility whenever I see greenery of any kind.

Photography: Spring time

Spring is the time when the greenery starts to show and the temperatures become warmer as the flowers begin to bloom and the birds begin to do their thing.

Photography: Spring time

It is the perfect time to step out and take in the warm sun after the bitterly cold winters. It is the time to get some tan and also to nourish one’s body through sunbathing.

Over the years I have been to numerous places in spring and it’s been an utter delight seeing everything and everyone so happy.

Photography: European Summer

Photography: European Summer

As many would know having lived in the Middle East for a majority of life, summer isn’t something we wait for with bated breath.

Photography: European Summer

With hot winds, high humidity and temperatures touching 50 degree celsius, it surely takes a lot getting used to.

Photography: European Summer

But then, there was a time when we could easily travel to places where summers are seasons to look forward to.

Whether its Marbella or Paris, Amsterdam or Bremen, summer in Europe is characterised by sunny skies with specks of clouds, people sun-bathing at the beaches of Marbella or taking a boat ride through the canals of Amsterdam.

If you think about Kuwait’s weather, all you can imagine is the heat.

I will leave it to your imagination as to how you would deal with the 50 degree Celsius heat we see here every summer.

But Kuwait has quite a few months of winter as well when the weather is perfect for visiting the numerous parks and beaches.

The one thing which was quite a surprise was the fact that Kuwait has many farms as well. And farms whose pictures make you feel that you are back in India.

There are so many of us who love peace and quiet when we are outside don’t we? Whether it’s sitting on a beach and hearing the waves hitting the shore or walking in a park with very few people around and getting a chance to lose oneself amidst all the greenery, we all love some fresh air far away from our busy city lives.

I have always been a passionate traveller and during any of my visits, I always make it a point to visit the ‘quiet places’ to take in some ‘quiet moments’.

I loved the experience of watching the sunset while taking a boat ride off the coast of Kuwait.

Brooklyn Bridge Park was the perfect place to see Manhattan by night. Not too many people around and to top it all, Manhattan looked really beautiful.

Kalemegdan Fort in Belgrade, Serbia gives you a bird’s eye view of the city. While the February chill was too much to take, the evening looked beautiful.

You must be wondering as to how is it possible to get ‘quiet places’ in New York. But I did find Central Park to be really beautiful and peaceful as well. It seemed like the perfect place to get away from the busy city life.

Photography: Road trip

I have always loved road trips for the sheer joy they bring. In my opinion, road trips are the perfect way to explore the sights and sounds of any country. You get to meet different kinds of people and also aren’t in a hurry which would normally be the case in any package tour.

Moreover, driving for miles and miles on a long winding road when the weather is lovely with the breeze hitting your face is the perfect recipe for peace and calm. Below are some of the clicks which I have taken during my different trips in Muscat, Oman, Jordan and the East Coast of USA (in that order).
