100 word fiction: Losing control

Losing control

“It’s been ages since we hung out.” Josh missed the pre-pandemic life.

“Oh tell us about it. The pandemic and endless lockdowns have been so challenging.” The entire squad exclaimed in unison.

“What about a drive today?”

Losing control

And before his friends could say anything, he got out his flashy new BMW and off they went for a spin. As they reached their favourite spot, they were just overwhelmed taking in the environment after so long.

But while coming back, the excitement got too much as Josh lost control and rammed his car through the boundary wall of his neighbours estate.

  1. No doubt, it’ll take all of us a little adjusting to the post-pandemic new normals. Hopefully, less dramatically than those in your story.

  2. An interesting metaphor for the return to “normal”

  3. An excellent combination again

  4. Ouch, let’s hope not all the post-pandemic outings end like this.

    • transitionofthoughts

Oh yes, I guess the extra excitement wasn’t too good for them :D.

  5. Looks like their post pandemic trip didn’t go so well! Great take, Aseem!

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah I think the excitement got the better of them :P.

  6. He left one set of problems behind and picked up a whole new set. Timely story!

  7. It’s true, some of us haven’t driven for so long we need to be extra careful going back out there

    • transitionofthoughts

Oh yes definitely quite important to be very careful at least for starters.

  8. Definitely been there, having a great day and running into things. Fortunately not with my car, yet. Or ever. Hopefully not ever!

    • transitionofthoughts

Ahh that’s good :D. Hopefully none of us end up in a situation like this especially jumping on the excitement of getting out of lockdown.
