Transition of Thoughts

Weaving thoughts into words

Friends unfriended

Friends unfriended

A team of two dancers, a team of two friends,

they always hung out together

But punishment was an echo of her feelings,

when her friend’s actions were too much to not bother

Forgiveness meant being cordial and working in tandem

in the interim both of which weren’t acceptable to her,

And so with time, the wedge between them got wider

and wider and finally their relationship was wiped clean

Friends unfriended

  1. Lovely poetic write up.

  2. Broken friendships are so sad. Thanks for joining in the challenge

  3. Even though broken friendships may make us sad, but it’s ok to move on from a friendship that is turning sour.

    • transitionofthoughts

That’s perfectly put! If the people aren’t interested to continue, why waste anyone’s time, effort and energy.

  4. Beverly Crawford

Sad how sometimes friendships (and marriages) proceed in different directions to a painful end.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. Sometimes things become so bad in relationships that it becomes better to let it go than see things become worse day by day.

  5. We start off with that kooky image – full of fun and closeness – and end up somewhere altogether sadder and colder. Such a final ending.

  6. There are many transitions going on now during the global pandemic. A lot of people are rethinking relationships and the future. Great piece.

  7. Losing a friend is indeed painful and so beautifully brought out through your verses

  8. I understand her point. No matter how good a friendship is if the values and principles of two individuals grow apart then there is no friendship left to nurture. Loved this short and crisp tale, Aseem. Thank you for joining #fictionmonday. Looking forward to reading your response to the coming week’s prompt. 🙂

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. In a friendship or any relationship both the people need to do their bit to make it work. Thanks for stopping by :).

  9. Jyoti Jha

No matter how beautiful a friendship is, if not nurtured well, the relationship falls apart.
Lovely poetic representation of this thought!

    • transitionofthoughts

So true. For any relationship let alone friendship both the individuals need to give it their all to make it work. If not, it just wasn’t meant to be.

  10. Closures are never easy, we get some some we don’t well summed up

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah sometimes we just need to let go. Thanks for stopping by :).

  11. Friendship is at once a bond and a bondage!

    • transitionofthoughts

I know where you are coming from. But I guess if it becomes bondage, then one needs to get out of such a friendship sooner rather than later.

  12. Nice poem. Visited your blog for the first time, thanks to MFA. I find your content very interesting. Keep writing :).

  13. Nice deep heartfelt poetic words. I wish there were more. Keep writing brother. There is no loss greater than the loss of a loved one in whatever form it is. Hugs.

Completely agree that losing loved ones pains more than anyone can ever imagine. Thanks for stopping by :).

  14. The poetry you wrote was flowing like a river. I can understand the deeper meaning and sentiments behind it..

  15. When the wedge got wider, the bond got wiped, feels so sad to read this. Nice poetic representation of unfriended friends. . .

  16. This is so different , friends apart is saddening.

  17. Very simple yet lot left to imagine..

  18. Loosing friends is definitely painful but when things doesn’t go well and needs a closure than their is no point dragging. Well written verse.

    • transitionofthoughts

Very well put Swati. It’s important to realize when to let go rather than keep dragging along. Thanks for stopping by :).

  19. some friendships have a shelf life, its best to let them go

  20. The bitter truth of life. Loved it which was crisp & clear.

  21. Sometimes staying together while growing apart is more difficult than moving away. Even though separations are painful, they are sometimes better.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that! Sometimes one needs to separate so that both the individuals stay calm and happy and its good for both in the long run.

  22. A sad truth but it happens with most of us. Sometimes its in our hands sometimes just not.

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah I guess for any relationship to work, all the individuals involved need to do their bit. If someone isn’t too interested, then there’s no point just keeping that relationship just for the sake of it.

  23. Friendship is so pure relation yet it has been tough for me. I could relate to this poem so much it brought back some memories back…

    • transitionofthoughts

Yes it is definitely very pure though like any other relationship it does require a lot to make it work. Thanks for stopping by :).

  24. It is a pity when good friendships fall apart. This was so well expressed. Can’t they try and come back together again?

    • transitionofthoughts

I guess they realized that there was no point in dragging it. Thanks for stopping by :).

  25. Sometimes, some friendships are not meant to live a complete life.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that! And that’s when one needs to know that the time has come to end it.

  26. Lovely poem and so very relatable

  27. If a friendship can be broken that way, it is meant to be broken. May be that is for the best. Nicely written Aseem.

  28. Loved your way of writing, Aseem. Although sad but unique take on the prompt.

  29. So much in a few words, penned beautifully.

  30. It’s sad and possibly inevitable that a relationship cannot stand the test of time. There’s more to being together than shared interests.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that Sona. And sometimes when one knows that things have deteriorated so much that nothing can be done to fix it, its better to just let it go.
