Transition of Thoughts

Weaving thoughts into words

Irony of life

Irony of life

He always complained

that he didn’t have enough

time for family

He always complained

that he didn’t have enough

time for having fun

He always complained

that he didn’t have enough

time to improve skills

But then, things changed in

a matter of weeks with the

pandemic spreading

Suddenly, there was

lots of time for fun, career

and ones family

But now the challenge

was to survive in more ways

than one imagined

  1. Ooh, I love this. It is so true. Many challenges alone were present in normal life. Pandemic life has offered an escape of normal problems, but at the cost of amplifying new ones. I agree it has helped with the added family time and having a bit more fun inside the house with loved ones, though. I love this perspective in this poem. Thank you for sharing! <3

I guess it perfectly shows that you always get something and also lose something. You never know how things can change in more ways than one. But I guess when things are not in ones control, then it’s just important to make the most of what one has control over :).

  2. Oh so very true! Suddenly we have lots of time and the space we live in has shrunk considerably. I have a friend who said here kitchen drawers and cupboards have never been so clean! For me….my huge project which I now have time for, is going through all my old photos (hard copy ones, not digital), programs, letters, saved memorabilia etc and compressing….sending some on to family members and friends who might enjoy seeing photos of them 40 years ago, and making a photo/memory/historical scrapbook. I even found a copy of the eulogy I wrote and read for my brother’s funeral when he died at age 51 – he would be 82 now. I’d forgotten about it and sent copies to his children. So oh yes….time on our hands and no excuses to accomplish some of those things that have been on our to-do list for many years! 🙂

Oh that’s amazing that you have been able to do so much and more :). I think its perfectly true that maybe we needed a pandemic however awful it sounds for us to get time to do things which we humans should normally do like spend more time with family, relax and even have a bit of fun.

I hope this period has also given a chance for people to introspect and think about how they can be the change they want to see rather than go the old materialistic ways humanity has been used to since quite a while.

On a different note, I know people who have struggled to do a lot during this period since they have been nervous mentally and disturbed due to all the negativity going on in 2020. And I can just hope that they have the support of friends and family to help them get through this :).

So true. A sort of “be careful what you wish for” tale being lived by many of us! Good write.

  4. Focus, shifted. Plague’s side effect.

Oh definitely it is quite an effect. I guess sometimes you should think about what you wish for ;).

  5. Our worlds have been turned topsy turvy. The ripples will be continuing for a long time. Good reflections on a very “awkward” time in world history.

I am sure the ripples will definitely continue for a while. But then I guess we have adapted quite well to date and hopefully we can all work together to overcome this challenge as we move forward.

  6. We have all faced this challenge in one way or other, and you have summed it up so poetically, and so well. Well done!

  7. Indeed, to assume we always have time is sadly misguided.
