Weaving thoughts into words

100 word fiction: Battle of the bands

100 word fiction: Battle of the bands

She had always been a fan of rock music from the time she could remember. Posters of Iron Maiden and Metallica adorned the walls of her room. Head banging to their songs made her feel free from all the stress she had seen at home.

Her parents were having a messy divorce after years of fighting with each other over the simplest of things. Theirs was a classic case of one-upmanship. This had always given her the blues.

Going to the battle of the bands during this period had been a cathartic experience helping stabilize her mental health as well.

  1. Love rock. Love headbanging. Warning, it might be conducive in later years to arthritis of the neck.

  2. Good one 🙂 Thanks for joining in on the prompt

  3. Sounds like a fun and cathartic experience, a good chance to step away from family drama – and we all need that sometimes.

Yes definitely Anne. I am sure we all need to refresh ourselves sometimes :).

  4. I see the positive side of your story, but mostly I feel the pain and distress. I hope you’ve found peace.

I guess Linda for her it was all about finding her peace away from hearing her parents fight tooth and nail. And when she actually did, it was such a relief.

  5. And those of us who loved rock, heavy metal and such, STILL do today! Keeps us young!

Oh yes even a huge fan of rock and can completely understand where you come from :D.
