PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

“Wasn’t this the liveliest place in town? There were so many times that we have seen couples waiting outside just to get a seat.”

When Alan and Roy had met in university, they would have laughed if someone would have said that they would co-own a restaurant many years down the line. But here they were, running one of the most successful eateries in the area.

But things had changed within weeks. The customers had disappeared. Home delivery wasn’t even half as successful as dining in. Most of the employees had been furloughed.

“Times can change fast.” Roy lamented wistfully.

Written for the photo prompt and you can read the other entries here.

I am taking the A to Z Challenge 2020 with Blogchatter and my theme is Microfiction.

True. Hopefully, the place will become the liveliest place once again pretty soon. Lets hope for the best.

  2. Yes, COVID-19 has been a real kick in the teeth to the service industry 🙁

    • transitionofthoughts

Yes it definitely has :(. Am sure we will all recover from this but I guess the key question on everyone’s minds is how soon things would turn around.

  3. Times sure can change! Rolling with the times can sometimes make all the difference, eh?

    • transitionofthoughts

I guess its definitely important to roll with the times. But then I doubt any of us could have ever prepared for a situation like this.

      • And yet … there are those who lived through the Spanish Flu and those who lived through WWII and the blitz and the death camps, and those who lost everything in the Great Depression, and those who lived through sudden regime changes and needing to flee … and for many life changed in ways one couldn’t have imagined and yet … did happen … and many found a way and got through. We will, too!

        • transitionofthoughts

Oh yes I am sure we all will get through this. Humans I believe are very good at adapting to situations like this and am amazed how so many have managed to adapt so well.

          • Indeed! Doesn’t mean any of this is easy or as we’d have wanted it to be … but that we can – many of us, at least – adapt to what we need to and go on …

          • transitionofthoughts

Totally agree. As someone as has said “Together we can overcome”

  11. this story is definitely timely. It will be a while before people can eat at restaurants again. I hope that the couple finds happiness and renewed life in their restaurant again.

I am sure it will take time. But the sun will rise again and things will definitely get better.

  12. The lockdown has put a strain on a lot of small businesse, hopefully they’ll recover

    • transitionofthoughts

    • transitionofthoughts

Thanks Nan. Bad timing for sure but then I guess when the going gets tough, the tough get going. So things may take time but they will definitely improve sooner rather than later.
