“We take so many things for granted, don’t we? Normally, on such a beautiful spring day, I would be taking my boat out for a spin. But now is anything but ‘normal’.”

Garett looked out of the window at the beautiful rainbow and could only sigh wondering how humans had never been grateful of the simple things.

He had all the money one could amass. He had the fanciest of houses in the best of locations. But here he was, locked down in a far corner of the world due to a virus which had the world in its grasp.

Written for the photo prompt and you can read the other entries here.

I am taking the A to Z Challenge 2020 with Blogchatter and my theme is Microfiction

  1. Perhaps he needs to buy himself an estate with a boating lake?

  2. He needs to wait it out like others…only he is in way more comfort than a lot of folks.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. And he definitely needs to be thankful about that as there are many others who are suffering without basic necessities.

  3. Wow !! What a thought

  4. There will be some fascinating stories at the end of this from those trapped in various places. Nice take.

So apt for today’s scenario but he is blessed and fortunate to be able to see the beautiful rainbow from the comfort of his own house.

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah he seems to have much more than others can even imagine in today’s scenario.

  6. God! That just resonates my thoughts a few days ago.

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah Sonia so many who have so much. While there are others who don’t have anything at all to fall back on.

  7. If you have to be miserable, it’s best to be miserable in comfort…

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. There are so many who don’t even have that.

  8. Mike

Better the boat then a tiny flat in a high rise block, till the storm knocks on his door.

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. The way things are going, the virus has seemed to infect anyone in its path without discriminating between rich and poor.

  9. Viruses and diseases don’t discriminate. The world still seems to think money is everything, but what is it when we’re trapped or, worse, infected?

    • transitionofthoughts

True that. I guess more than anything else,, the fact that this virus is infecting anyone and everyone be it big or small is what makes things all the more different from anything we have ever seen.

  10. Reality check! No one is immune.

  11. Having the biggest house and best boat aren’t super helpful right now but hopefully he finds reasons to still be grateful. Weekends In Maine

  12. Money helps some things, but it does not buy happiness, and sometimes … it does not even buy health. I hope they all stay in health. You, too. All of us, really.

    • transitionofthoughts

Thanks Naama. Definitely money cannot buy happiness and so much more. You stay safe too. Hopefully this too shall pass like other challenges in our lives.

      • It will pass. It is not fun while it lasts, but challenges of this kind rarely are. We are all in this together, and that already is a comfort of sort.

  13. Atleast now finally he did feel grateful 🙂

  14. Hello, nice to meet you. I saw your gorgeous thumbnail picture on a bloghop. Since I LOVE rainbows I just had to visit 🙂

My G is für Grüezi, the common Swiss word to greet each other, and also for the Gotthard mountain pass.

  15. Moments like these can truly make us appreciate many things we take for granted.

  16. This time is a good reminder of the things in life that we take for granted. There will be many stories when this passes, like everything else, it will pass. Stay safe! =)

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah it surely is providing us with a good reality check on life and more. You too stay safe. Hopefully we shall get through this stronger.

  17. I guess we’re all in the same boat!!

    • transitionofthoughts

Yeah the virus doesn’t discriminate amongst individuals.

  18. There are some things money just can’t buy!

  19. This virus is a great leveller. And I don’t mean ‘great’ in the usual sense of the word.

    • transitionofthoughts

Oh definitely it is Sandra. It doesn’t discriminate one bit between the haves and the have nots.

  20. These times have made us grateful for the simple things in life! Well constructed story!

  21. Our life can change in the blink of an eye. It looks like being grateful is
part of our adjustment with less material things take the #1 spot. Nicely done …
