They said that it was coming but not many believed them. They warned that while the symptoms started with a simple cough and cold, they weren’t able to cure the patients using regular medication. It all seemed like a mystery.
And then, the floodgates opened. With businesses and transportation closed and everyone prevented from going outside home except to buy groceries when needed, the city effectively went into an unprecedented lockdown.
Masks became commonplace as the health officials and volunteers went into overdrive. There were mandatory health checks at every nook and corner of the city. The outbreak had begun.
