Blogging – A way of life

Rewind about 13 years and you would see me writing a few small editorial columns for Times of Oman – the largest daily in the Sultanate of Oman. At that time, I only wrote a few opinion pieces here and there and when they actually got published, I was delighted enough to cut each of the articles carefully and store them in my personal file.
As the years went by, I became a part of a few editorial committees of college fests but didn’t really write much in the true sense of the word. It’s only when I started my blog in 2009 that I actually discovered my real passion for writing and expressing my thoughts about anything and everything under the sun.
Slowly but surely, there was no looking back. While I started from blogging professionally, I later moved on to concentrate on building my personal brand via my blog. From travelogues to movie reviews; from book reviews to different kinds of short fiction, I dabbled in all of this and more.
Before I realized it, blogging had become a habit which I had to do at least once or twice a week if not more. If I didn’t blog for a while, I felt that there was something missing from my life and my blog was calling out to me for love and care.
While all the awards and blogging contest wins have been great, what has given me the most pleasure is making and meeting new blogger friends, discovering myself as a storyteller and last but not the least the appreciation through word of mouth by people who discovered me only through my blog.

Yeah Amrita, I guess only with time I realized that BFF has a new full form as well – Blogging Friends Forever. And that’s when I started to reach out to like minded bloggers and I must say the experience has been lovely. The prompt was awesome and I hope to be regular in connecting every week at Thankful Thursdays :).

Blogging also helped me discover my passion for writing and one thing led to the other, journalism which opened a fluid world of rediscovering the hidden pen.

That’s awesome Tina. We all have so many stories which began just from blogging. For many what started just as a hobby turned into a life-changing experience as years went by. And that’s quite brilliant. Thanks for the lovely prompt and it feels wonderful for the win :).
