My Twitter Journey...

My Twitter Journey…

In July, I complete 7 years on Twitter and I must say that the journey from my 1st tweet to my 45,410th tweet has been quite exciting. When I joined Twitter way back in 2009, it wasn’t half as famous in most parts of the world as is the case today.

Whenever I informed people that I was on Twitter, there was a common question on what can one actually tweet about. And even if one does, why would anyone listen? But Twitter has grown exponentially from being just another social network to a medium for news, advertisements, election campaigns, eCommerce businesses and more.

Seeing its growth, even the Twitter founders would have been left thanking their stars on the fact that they had uncovered a goldmine. On the flip side, trolls haven’t left Twitter alone and one always keeps encountering them day and night

  1. I also joined Twitter in 2009 but did not pursue it much. I still feel it’s a great platform and fun place.

Yeah same here. I started using it only after a certain point when I slowly got used to it. I guess initially, you do get confused on what to tweet and what not to.

I registered on twitter when it started but started using it only about 4 years ago and that too to just follow my favourite star who did not have any other social media presence. But look where I landed, discovering a whole new world.

Oh yes! That was how Twitter actually became famous in India, ain’t it? So many joined just to follow and tweet to their favourite Bollywood celebrities. I guess the fact that celebrities lapped up Twitter happily encouraged a lot of Indians to join and many who liked it stayed on to widen their horizons on how to use Twitter more effectively :). It’s great that you have found a new world on Twitter. It’s a lovely tool :).

I’m impressed that you’ve had that many tweets! I’ve written a fraction of that and been on a little longer.

I found it a great tool to interact with a varied set of individuals across the world (more so than FB) and also get so much information from :).

  4. I’ve ended up enjoying Twitter much more than I ever expected. I’m more of a lurker than a contributor which is why I have a tenth as many tweets as you even though I signed up six years ago.

Oh yeah when of the things I loved on Twitter is lurking around as well ;). Reading and getting latest news updates, searching articles on important topics is one of my favourite pastimes on Twitter :D. And must say, you get a good mix of information which may not be easily available on say even Google.
