From the time we are young, we are taught this phrase – “What goes around comes around”. Or another one – “As you sow, so shall you reap.” Our life is filled with various good, bad and ugly instances some of them are our doing while many others are due to someone else’s interference. Eventually, we all have to face the consequences of our actions. These consequences may depend on the actions we have taken.
Consider few of the below instances:
A rich corporate forcefully takes land from various farmers to build a group of hotels without giving the farmers proper compensation. While he succeeds in his business, he is never able to get the same level of happiness in his personal life as his wife and children leave him.
A social activist leaves his cushy high paying job at an MNC and starts an NGO for helping the poor. He gets support from various corporates but isn’t able to live that king sized life he used to enjoy during his days at the MNC. Finally, over a period of time, his efforts are recognized and he is awarded at United Nations for his social work.
Humans have been polluting the planet for years on end. And the effects are finally becoming visible with all the unnatural weather events like floods, droughts, extended summer seasons and so on and so forth around the world.
There are many such instances which we all see around us in daily lives. When we are down and out and our peers are succeeding by using the wrong means, a lot many of us are tempted to use those means ourselves. But as they say, good things eventually do happen to good people. Though it may take time, the individual using the right means will always succeed.
And moreover, even if those using wrong means succeed, is this the legacy we want to leave for our children? Don’t we want them to rise up and above solely based on their hard-work and dedication?
While we may not see the result of our actions immediately, when they do eventually hit us, a lot many are left unprepared.
And therefore, it’s important to think before you act because you never know what would be the eventual result of your actions in the months and years to come. You can treat people however badly you want. But you never know when your karma can come back to haunt you.
