100 word fiction: A day of togetherness..

Their boat of love..

Their boat of love..

PHOTO PROMPT – © Jennifer Pendergast

“I love these calm and tranquil surroundings.”

Though, Anna and Ron had married a few months ago in a lavish ceremony, they hadn’t been able to spend much time together due to their busy schedules at work. And so when they did get a break, they were quick to plan a trip to the nearby archipelago.

Talking sweet nothings, walking hand in hand near the shore, having candle light dinners and more – they rekindled their love story.

“Are you in for some boating?” Hearing her reply in the affirmative, he took her hand in his and helped her get seated.

In today’s day and age, everyone talks about equality between men and women in every sphere of life. Whether its professionally in the corporate boardrooms or sharing chores at home, women expect to be treated at par with their male counterparts. But there’s a thin line between treating women equally or specially. Which one do they prefer?

She had vowed never again to allow a man to even touch her.

She had vowed never again to be exploited in the name of love.

She had vowed never again to fall in love.

She had vowed never again to allow a man to rule her thoughts and dreams.

She had vowed never again to befriend any man.

She had vowed never again to come back to the city which had given her only sorrow.

From now on, she had vowed to fight back if anyone even dared to ruffle her. This was the beginning of a new phase.

I was recently watching the Discovery Channel series – “Waterfront Cities of the World”. While Copenhagen is a beautiful place with lovely people, what struck me the most about the city was it’s cycling culture. With more than 40% of it’s people cycling daily to work, university, school or commuting socially, the love for cycling is ingrained in Danish society.

100 word fiction: The windows of hope..

Windows of hope..

Windows of hope..

PHOTO PROMPT – © Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

It had been over three weeks since Katie and Ron hadn’t spoken to each other. When she didn’t answer his call and deleted her social media accounts, he tried Plan B.

He waited below her building everyday. While he did manage to catch a glimpse of her through the windows, she never came down. She seemed to be under house arrest.

This went on until Katie realized that Ron wasn’t coming anymore. He had been killed by a few ruffians who were trying to rob him. She could have never imagined that their love would meet such a cruel fate.

Inspiration – How to find it?

How should you get inspired?

Inspiration is that energy which has the power to drive us to do some great things. Along with being creative, these are the things which give us the motivation to build our thoughts effectively for achieving our goals and dreams.

But then, a lot many keep cribbing about everything in their lives. From their professional to their personal lives; from their friends to their family members, there are many who aren’t happy with anything in their lives.

Do your choices reflect your hopes or fears?

At every step in life, we have to make choices. Choices for our career, choices for the one we want to marry, choices like going out or not, choices on the movie we want to watch or the food we want to eat and the likes. Some of these choices need to be made everyday while others are those that need to be made over a period of time.

Many individuals make their choices based on fear. The fear of the unknown, the fear of not succeeding, the fear of not being accepted, the fear of being ridiculed and so on and so forth.

There are so many times in our lives wherein we are helped by our friends, family members, loved ones and even strangers. Whether it is for a job or a random favour, help at work or in our personal lives, all of us look for support at different stages of our lives. While some need support all the time, there are others who can manage themselves without needing too much help.

But again, do we thank those who help us? Do we express our gratitude towards them? Do we believe in helping others in their times of need?
