100 word fiction: At the portico..

At the porch..

At the porch..

As he stepped out onto the portico to feel the first rays of the sun after the harsh winter, he couldn’t help but remember the fun times he had spent with family.

Every weekend, the Smith’s put out the chairs on the portico for some sweet little family time over a cup of coffee, biscuits and a few exciting games. While the oldies engaged in some interesting conversations about life, the youngsters were busy in their fun and games.

The lovely lush green surroundings were like the cherry on the cake as they added a natural element to the place.

      He was just remembering the times spent with family and friends on the portico :).

      • Oh okay. I went back and red it and I think what threw me was “the cherry on the cake.” I wasn’t sure if it was all happening on top of a cake (fantasy).

      Yes Kalpana, the fun and games had with family and friends on a lovely holiday sitting in the balcony is something which cannot be easily replaced. It just radiates a beautiful feeling :).
