So Facebook has introduced its new newsfeed and various other features in the f8 conference. All the Facebook lovers, techies, developers, everyone’s greatly excited, isn’t it? Obviously many of these moves were influenced or sped up because of the entry of Google Plus into the market. But whatever it is, its being regarded as a unique change.

But then my post deals with two particular changes which form the core of its new strategy. They include the Facebook Timeline and the tracker. So they have blurted out the usual things like “It makes you more social”, “You can connect to your friends much easier”, “The features are for the benefit of the users” blah blah blah!

But there is just one single point to all this. Zuckerberg doesn’t care a shit about what the users think of these features. He and his team of developers have loaded so many features at once that even the most loyal of users are confused on what’s going on. It’s like everyday you open Facebook to see something more new.

Facebook’s new timeline promises to actually be a storyboard of one’s life. It’s like all the information about a person is aggregated in one place so that hackers, employers, strangers, almost anyone could use / misuse that information for his / her personal gains. Obviously Facebook would say its up to us on what to reveal and what not to, but do we really think about it before going forward? I wonder!

Facebook Timeline ticker is an even more intrusive feature on the right hand side when you enter your own Facebook home page. It displays live updates on what your friends are doing on Facebook. So even if they unfriend someone you would know it. Even if they have a conversation with someone you would know it. It’s all out in the open.

Facebook is starting to function like an organization which knows that its customers won’t go anywhere because they dont have a better product in sight. It feels as if its enslaved all its users.

And until that happens, Zuckerberg and the rest of the top management at FB would continue their surge in selling our information to everyone across the planet!
