“You need to have the courage to follow your dreams and climb the steps to your goal. You can crib all day long about what you don’t have. Or instead, you can pursue your dream and live life on your own terms. It’s your choice.”

In a country without a history of fencing, Malti had carved out a niche for herself by winning numerous tournaments. And now, she had to move out of India for a few years to train and realize her dream of representing the country.

She knew that it was time to take the leap of faith.

We all have seen tough days at work. They happen every now and then. Sometimes it is the presentation you worked very hard on that gets rejected or learning that you are not getting the promotion that was promised. Tough days simply can’t be avoided. While it is not always in our hands to stop a day from turning bad at work, it is totally in our control to sail through the day without letting it hamper our daily work and productivity. Though it is difficult to keep our motivation levels high on tough days, putting a little bit of effort to stay positive can really do wonders for you even when everything seems to be going against you.

Here are a few ways in which you can convince yourself to work through tough days even if you have run out of motivation:

The pain of losing someone..

All of us have an expiry date (the date we would die). There’s no one who can expect to live forever. If there was a possibility, how many of you would want to live forever?

But this expiry date is not something any of us actually know. At least among us Indians, as soon as we reach the wrong side of 50 many start thinking as if our time on Earth is nearing its end. Interestingly, on the other side of the spectrum, I have seen men and women at the age of 70+ in countries like Germany, UK etc. fit and fine to even go on tourist visits all alone without their kids.

All of us have various goals and dreams. Irrespective of our passions, most of us aim to become rich and famous. But, isn’t there more to life than just earning good money? Isn’t happiness defined by the work you do, the people you meet which includes your friends and family and the time you get to do your own thing?

Inspiration is that energy which has the power to drive us to do some great things. Along with being creative, these are the things which give us the motivation to build our thoughts effectively for achieving our goals and dreams.

But then, a lot many keep cribbing about everything in their lives. From their professional to their personal lives; from their friends to their family members, there are many who aren’t happy with anything in their lives.

Creating a Startup Revolution..

What is Entrepreneurship?

What is Entrepreneurship?

Source: https://bradleysjohns.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/entrepreneur.jpg

I just completed watching the first 4 episodes of TVF Pitchers, a new Indian show which talks about the journey of 4 guys who leave their cushy jobs to dream of starting their own company. In a country like India, there are hundreds of individuals who start their own companies every single day. But in comparison, the success stories are miniscule in number.

From lack of funding to a poorly developed idea; from inability to hire the right set of people to lack of differentiation among the competitors in the market, there are a number of reasons behind every failure. But one of the most fundamental ones is the ease with which wannabe entrepreneurs give up after being rejected a couple of times.

As is always the case in life, not giving up is the mantra one needs to follow to avoid being JUST another entity creating a startup revolution. It’s not always about doing different things but instead doing the same things differently could be revolutionary as well.

Success or Happiness – What comes first?

Happiness is the key to success..

Happiness is the key to success..

I have always believed that we are responsible for our own feelings. If we are sad, it’s because more often than not, we ourselves tend to think about the unhappy and depressing things in life rather than appreciating the happy moments.

If we are happy and satisfied with our lives, there are more chances for us to succeed and achieve our goals and dreams. A happy mind and soul is a perfect ingredient for success.

Success should be considered as a result of happiness rather than the other way round since the barometer for success changes from time to time.

100 word fiction: The life of a graffiti artist..

Graffiti art..

Graffiti art..

PHOTO PROMPT – © Jean L. Hays

“Did you say you want to become an artist? Are you crazy? Is it even a profession?”

Sally had come a long way from hearing such comments from her family. For her, life wasn’t just about making money in a dreary and dull job. She wanted to follow her dreams and art was her passion.

Graffiti and street art helped her express her thoughts and frustrations about daily life. The day she was invited to the famous gallery to set up her own street art exhibition was when she realized that her art had the power to make a difference.

Written for the photo prompt and you can read the other entries here.

We all dream for success and happiness in every walk of life. Moreover, everyone also dreams of being famous and rich. But then, is it only dreams that lead us to success? Does success easily come to those who dream? How important is it to dream? Let’s check it out.

Dreams are thoughts, ambitions, aspirations, images and sensations which occur in our mind during sleep as well as times when we are awake. There are different types of dreams.

Can women be stereotyped to just one label?

A woman’s place is only in the kitchen.

Women are the ones who take care of the children while men are the ones who go outside to work.

Household work is the domain of women while men can sit and relax.

Women cannot do physically demanding jobs.

Women are not the right people for top jobs in the corporate sector since they have to fulfill household responsibilities.

I am sure all of us would have made either one or all the above statements at least once during our lives. In patriarchal societies across the world, even today women are generally considered as those who can sit at home and fulfill the household responsibilities. Women who dare to go out and work, follow their passion and try to become multi-dimensional in their thinking and approach to life are frowned upon in many quarters.

But why so?
