A380: The queen of the skies

Dubai is something of a maximum city. With the tallest buildings, the longest bridges and tunnels, the highest restaurants, the glitziest malls and more, it has created quite a name for itself across the planet.

And so how can its airport stay behind? The world’s 3rd business by passenger traffic, 6th busiest by cargo traffic and the busiest operating both wide-body jets courtesy the flagship Emirates airline (B777s & A380s), Dubai International Airport is bursting at its seams. It’s like almost everyone on the planet arrives in Dubai more often than not either on transit or for business and / or pleasure.

Interview with Rajshri Raajgopal – Author of Boomerang

Rajshri Raajgopal is a graduate in English Literature from Kerala University. She also gained CELTA from Cambridge University and Postgraduate Diploma in Pre-Primary Teaching from Pune. Rajshri was a Cabin Crew with Emirates Airlines and has lived in Dubai, Ireland and United Kingdom before relocating to Bangalore. She also writes children’s books for Mimitra Enterprises. Her first book in this genre is Mani. She is a single parent whose determination to become successful led her to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer. Boomerang is her first adult fiction.

She joins us exclusively for an interview –

Aseem: From graduating in English literature to writing. Your life seems to have come a full circle. How did it come about?
Rajshri: Destiny. I took up English Literature because I love reading. Writing had always been on my mind but it never really materialized until now. I guess that’s why they say there is a time for everything.

Aseem: What’s the most challenging of them all – Writing or being a cabin crew member?
Rajshri: The most challenging was being a housewife.

Indigo stuns the world of aviation with a mind – boggling deal!!


With more than 17% market share, Indigo has just crossed Air India to become the 3rd largest player in Indian aviation and the largest in the LCC segment. It announced an order of 100 Airbus A320s for a price of US$ 6 billion during the Paris Air Show in 2005 which stunned the world of Indian aviation. But its recent announcement to buy an additional 180 Airbus A320s which includes 150 new A320s (A320neo) for a price of US$ 15.6 billion which are 15% more fuel efficient than other flights has stunned the entire world.
