“Don’t you even remember me?”

It had been more than 3 years since the best of friends had passed out from college with promises of staying in touch in the years ahead.

As the years went by, everyone got busy in their lives and the promises remained just that – ‘promises’.

The memories had come flooding back after his phone call today. Those were the memories that had been forgotten over time.

These college students are delighted for another day..

Those numerous walks around the college with friends just so that there was one hour less to spend alone in the hostel room. The  ritual to order an ice tea every-time they crossed the Nescafe bar to quench their thirst in the growing humidity. The sound of the whistle blown by the security guard to indicate that it was past her in-time at hostel and they needed to bid goodbye. The numerous hours spent laughing and enjoying in the canteens, food courts, libraries, classrooms and labs. The times when they escaped out of the campus to watch the latest flicks at the nearby theater for just Rs 20. College life was all this and more.

April 2nd 2011: A night of mixed emotions

When MS Dhoni smashed a six of Nuwan Kulasekara, there was a collective roar from the 1.2 billion in India as well as thousands of Indians across the world. It was the ultimate prize in cricket. It was the ultimate prize for Indian sport (since Indian sport has sadly been limited to cricket more less). It was the prize which all of us had been waiting for since the past 28 years. And finally when it was achieved, it was fitting that the captain who has led us to the Test No 1 ranking and the ICC T20 WC win in 2007 was at the forefront. The whole nation was on the roads honking with flags, with a euphoria which may have been seen only in 1947 when we got independence.
