We all take inspiration from various sources in our lives be it friends, family or even the experiences they have gone through at different phases in their careers. This helps us in learning the steps to be taken to achieve success and avoid failure. It serves as a motivation to achieve great heights in our careers.

While I did write a few editorial columns in Times of Oman and was part of the editorial committee of Riviera (the international fest at VIT University), it wasn’t until I started my blog in 2009 that I got serious about my writing.

It started off more as a diary where I penned down my feelings about friends, emotions and life in general. Slowly but surely, I moved on to express opinions on politics, sports, aviation, education and anything and everything under the sun. In the meantime, I had also started blogging professionally for a business & technology blog which was quite a learning experience in itself.

As the years went by, I began to review books, movies, write various kinds of short fiction and also travelogues. While both reading and reviewing books happened by chance, I had never imagined that writers would themselves start sending me their books to review. Since I love to travel and take pics throughout my trips, what better way than documenting the experiences?

While many say that blogging on a particular topic like technology, movies etc. helps you carve a niche for yourself, I love the fact that blogging has helped me explore various forms and genres of writing. When I began, I had never imagined that I could write on such a varied range of topics with different word counts. There have been many instances when my observations of people and different situations have inspired me to pen down short stories.

While it’s been an honor to receive various accolades on the way, the power of blogging has helped me connect with a number of bloggers from different walks of life across the world. There has been so much to learn from each of them in terms of writing styles and their ability to express their thoughts into words.

All in all, blogging has become the elixir of my life.

  2. Archana Kapoor

Inspiration can be derived from anywhere Aseem, as you rightly pointed out… and that’s why Drishti doesn’t have a niche genre… why miss the opportunity of writing on everything that shouts out at you… isn’t it? 🙂 Cheers… and missing you on my blog… 🙁
